“All that glisters is not gold….”

As the great bard once wrote, “All that glisters is not gold.” (Merchant of Venice II.vii.69.)

In modern times, the concept still holds true. People often flock to those who seem most successful and powerful, those who flaunt some symbol of greatness. However taking people at face value in this manner can lead to any number of problematic misconceptions.
